Rangers and Besiktas reach agreement in principle over Nicolas Raskin transfer

Rangers have reportedly reached a verbal agreement in principle with Besiktas for the transfer of Nicolas Raskin, with the midfielder now facing a decision over whether to make the move to Turkey.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations between the two clubs have progressed significantly, with Besiktas now understood to have an agreement with Rangers over the Belgian’s potential departure.

The final decision, however, rests with Raskin, who must determine whether he wants to leave Ibrox for Istanbul or continue his career in Glasgow.

The development comes after Rangers manager Derek McInnes recently played down the speculation surrounding the 25-year-old’s future.

McInnes has praised Raskin’s attitude and performances, insisting that the midfielder has remained fully committed despite the ongoing transfer talk.

“Nico has been first class,” the Rangers boss said, while highlighting the player’s strong training performances and motivation.

McInnes also admitted that there had been plenty of discussions involving potential suitors, but stressed that nothing would change for Raskin unless an offer was formally presented that Rangers felt compelled to consider.

The manager has made it clear that he would be happy to retain the midfielder, describing him as a quality player capable of making an important contribution to the team.

McInnes added that if Raskin remains at Ibrox when the transfer window shuts, he expects the Belgian to continue providing the same level of commitment and performances he has shown previously.

However, the Rangers boss acknowledged that a serious offer could alter the situation and force the club to assess whether a sale makes sense.

With an agreement now reportedly in place between Rangers and Besiktas, attention has shifted to Raskin. The midfielder must now decide whether to accept the opportunity to continue his career in Istanbul or remain with Rangers in Glasgow.
