Zian Flemming wants Burnley transfer completed amid latest offer
Zian Flemming eager for Lille move as Burnley prepare for possible departure
Burnley forward Zian Flemming is reportedly keen to join Lille and take the next step in his career by moving to Ligue 1.
Sources have told Football Insider that the 28-year-old is attracted by the opportunity to compete in France’s top division and challenge himself at a higher level.
Lille have already had an opening proposal rejected by Burnley, but the French club have no intention of ending their pursuit. A second bid is now being prepared, with growing confidence that an agreement can eventually be reached.
The Ligue 1 side are believed to be closing the gap on Burnley’s valuation of their attacker. Lille boss Bruno Genesio is keen to add Flemming to his squad, and the club are now considered favourites to secure his services.
The Dutchman had previously been linked with Premier League moves involving Everton and Leeds, but Lille have emerged as the strongest contenders for his signature.
Burnley preparing for Flemming’s exit
Flemming has become an important player for Burnley since arriving at the club and was one of their standout performers during their Premier League campaign last season.
The former Millwall attacker finished the 2025/26 season as Burnley’s top league scorer, registering 11 goals. His performances have naturally attracted considerable interest during the summer transfer window.
A return to the Premier League had appeared possible earlier in the window, but Lille’s interest has changed the situation. Burnley are increasingly preparing themselves for the possibility that their leading scorer will leave before the September 1 deadline.
Flemming’s recent involvement also points towards uncertainty over his future. He was omitted from the squad for the defeat against West Brom before appearing only as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup loss to Bradford.
Burnley manager Nicky Hayen has made it clear that he would prefer to keep Flemming, but the likelihood of the forward remaining at Turf Moor appears to be diminishing.
Lille ahead of Leeds and Brentford
Leeds and Brentford were among the clubs previously competing for Flemming’s signature, with Football Insider reporting their interest earlier in August.
Brentford were regarded as particularly enthusiastic about signing the Dutchman, but their chances now appear to have faded with Lille moving into pole position.
The French club are preparing another attempt to convince Burnley to sell, and a deal could move quickly if their next proposal reaches the Clarets’ asking price.
With Flemming already understood to be open to joining Lille, the remaining obstacle is an agreement between the two clubs.
