Rangers F.C. step up interest in Zinedin Smajlovic as Celtic F.C. prepare major bid
Rangers F.C. remain interested in Zinedin Smajlovic as the defender continues to impress with Sandefjord Fotball this season.
The 22-year-old centre-back has featured regularly in Norway’s top division and has attracted growing attention from several clubs across Europe. Rangers have been monitoring his progress for some time, but no formal move has been completed yet.

Competition for his signature appears to be increasing, with Celtic F.C. reportedly stepping up their interest with an improved bid believed to be worth more than £3.8 million, plus performance-related add-ons.
Several other clubs, including Olympiacos F.C., Hull City A.F.C., Fenerbahçe S.K., Toulouse FC, Feyenoord and Olympique Lyonnais, are also believed to be keeping tabs on the defender.
With Derek McInnes now in charge at Ibrox and Lawrence Shankland already strengthening the attack, defensive additions could be next on Rangers’ agenda.
An interesting detail behind Smajlovic’s name has also emerged — he was named after Zinedine Zidane, his father’s football idol, something the young defender has spoken proudly about in the past.
With multiple clubs circling, his future remains one to watch as the summer window unfolds.
