Decision reached on Celtic F.C. sanctions following Hearts pitch invasion incident

Celtic F.C. have learned the outcome of disciplinary action following the pitch invasion during their title-clinching victory over Heart of Midlothian F.C. on the final day of the season.

The SPFL has handed Celtic a suspended stadium sanction, which would see 1,000 seats removed from the front sections of Celtic Park for one league match if a similar incident happens again before June 2028. Alongside that, the club has also been fined £7,500.

The incident took place after Callum Osmand scored deep into stoppage time in Celtic’s 3-1 win, sparking supporters to enter the pitch before the final whistle as the club sealed a fifth straight Premiership title. Daizen Maeda also played a key role in the victory.

The scenes drew criticism from the SPFL, Celtic, and Hearts, with opposition players escorted off the field for safety as celebrations unfolded.

Celtic were also reminded of an earlier suspended sanction linked to crowd behaviour during their away fixture against Motherwell F.C., where pyrotechnics and pitch incursions also led to punishment.

For now, the latest seat reduction remains suspended, meaning it will only come into effect if there is another major breach in the future.
