Exit sealed as Mark Sykes takes to social media to say goodbye to Bristol City
Mark Sykes is set to leave Bristol City this summer when his contract expires, with the club confirming he will depart alongside Sam Morsy and Harry Cornick.
The Robins announced on Friday that the 2022 signing from Oxford United would be among three first-team players to exit Ashton Gate in the coming weeks. Sykes later took to social media to say farewell, describing his time at the club as “a pleasure” and reflecting on a spell he said felt like “home.”

During his three years in South Bristol, the versatile winger made 153 appearances and scored 18 goals, producing several key moments in the Championship, including important strikes against Norwich City, Sheffield United and Leicester City during promotion pushes.
Although he featured regularly in the closing stages of the campaign, Sykes will not be part of Michael Skubala’s rebuild at Ashton Gate. His departure marks the end of a significant stint in which he established himself as a reliable attacking option for the club.
In his Instagram farewell, Sykes thanked supporters and teammates, reflecting on the memories created during his time at Bristol City. His message drew a warm response from fans and former teammates, who wished him well for the future.
Sam Morsy, who also departs after a short-term spell following his January arrival, shared his own farewell message, thanking the club for his time in Bristol. He is also set to move on as the Robins reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
