Senior journalist reveals what’s being said about Craig Bellamy and Celtic job
Craig Bellamy’s stance on the Celtic managerial position may have been made clearer after fresh insight from a senior Sky Sports reporter.
The former Celtic loanee has regularly been linked with a move into club management in recent months, with the Parkhead hotseat among the roles mentioned. Bellamy was previously discussed as a possible successor to Brendan Rodgers before Celtic ultimately turned elsewhere and appointed Wilfried Nancy.

Following Martin O’Neill’s successful interim spell, which ended with a league and cup double, uncertainty still surrounds who will lead Celtic into next season. O’Neill is expected to hold talks with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond regarding the possibility of remaining in charge permanently, although reports of delays have continued to fuel speculation around alternative candidates.
Among those linked have been former Celtic forward Robbie Keane and Bellamy, whose growing reputation in management has attracted attention after his work with Wales.
However, fresh comments from senior Sky Sports reporter Geraint Hughes appear to pour cold water on suggestions Bellamy could leave his current role anytime soon.
Hughes revealed he recently held private conversations with the 46-year-old and believes Bellamy remains fully committed to the Wales national team, despite interest from clubs.
According to the reporter, Bellamy sees club management as part of his long-term future but not something he intends to pursue immediately. Instead, his focus is firmly on continuing his project with Wales and leading the national side into Euro 2028, which will be co-hosted by Wales, England and Scotland.
Bellamy reportedly feels he still has unfinished business after Wales narrowly missed out on the World Cup, suffering a painful play-off exit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties.
The former striker has also been linked with other vacancies, including Burnley following Scott Parker’s departure, but the indication is that he is not ready to walk away from international football just yet.
For Celtic, that may mean attention remains on O’Neill or other candidates as the search for a permanent manager continues.
