Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic makes promising transfer claim before Premier League comeback
Sergej Jakirovic drops exciting Hull City transfer claim ahead of Premier League return
Hull City A.F.C. boss Sergej Jakirović has delivered an exciting update on the club’s summer transfer plans after securing promotion to the Premier League.
Hull sealed a dramatic return to the top flight in unforgettable fashion, with Oliver McBurnie scoring a stoppage-time winner against Middlesbrough F.C. at Wembley to send the Tigers up.

Few expected Hull to challenge for promotion after operating under a transfer embargo last summer, with many predicting a relegation battle instead. But Jakirovic’s side defied expectations, clinching a play-off place on the final day before overcoming Millwall F.C. over two legs to reach the final.
Now, attention is turning to how Hull will strengthen ahead of life back in the Premier League, and Jakirovic has hinted that the club are ready to back recruitment efforts.
Speaking about the summer ahead, the Hull boss revealed the club expects to work with a “nice budget” as they prepare to bridge the gap to the top flight.
Jakirovic also stressed that the recruitment team faces a huge task but praised the support he has received from ownership, saying there is strong alignment behind the scenes as Hull plan for the 2026/27 campaign.
With clubs like Sunderland A.F.C. and Leeds United F.C. showing promoted sides can compete at the highest level, Hull will be hoping smart recruitment can help them make a successful Premier League return.
