Blackburn Rovers F.C. line up summer swoop for Bristol City’s 28-year-old midfielder
Mark Sykes is attracting strong interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with Preston North End F.C., Blackburn Rovers F.C., and Charlton Athletic F.C. all monitoring his situation closely.
The Bristol City F.C. winger is expected to leave Ashton Gate on a free transfer once his contract expires this summer. Since joining the Robins in 2022, the 28-year-old has proven to be a versatile option, capable of operating on either wing as well as in a central midfield role.

During the current campaign, he has featured 40 times across all competitions, contributing four goals and one assist.
Sykes’ journey to this point has seen him build a solid reputation within the English Football League. He began his career in Northern Ireland with Glenavon before earning a move to Oxford United F.C. in 2019, where he further developed his game and caught wider attention.
Now, with his contract winding down, several Championship clubs are keen to secure his signature. Blackburn, in particular, are expected to push strongly after ensuring their survival in the division, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
In addition to his club performances, Sykes has also stepped onto the international stage, representing the Republic of Ireland since 2022 and earning multiple caps. His experience, flexibility, and consistency make him an appealing option for teams looking to add quality without a transfer fee.
