Coventry City F.C. have wasted no time in preparing for life in the Premier League, completing their first signing within hours of securing promotion.

After ending a 25-year absence from the top flight with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers F.C., the Sky Blues have moved to make Frank Onyeka’s deal permanent following his loan spell from Brentford F.C..

The move was triggered by a clause in the original agreement, which required Coventry to sign the Nigerian international if they achieved promotion. Although the transfer fee has not yet been disclosed, Onyeka has proven his value since arriving in the winter window.

The midfielder has featured 12 times, starting 11 matches, and played a key role in the club’s strong finish to the campaign, including scoring in a recent win over Derby.

Coventry’s promotion was confirmed at Ewood Park, where a crucial result sparked wild celebrations among travelling supporters. The achievement marks a significant milestone for both the club and manager Frank Lampard, who expressed pride in guiding the team back to the top tier.

With promotion secured, attention now turns to finishing the season strongly, as Coventry aim to cap their remarkable campaign by clinching the Championship title.
