Coventry City F.C. make swift first transfer move following promotion
Coventry City F.C. have already secured their first signing ahead of their Premier League return after confirming promotion under Frank Lampard.
The Sky Blues clinched their place in the top flight with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers F.C. on Friday night, ending a long wait to return to the Premier League.

With promotion guaranteed, a clause in Frank Onyeka’s loan deal from Brentford F.C. has now been activated, making his move permanent. The Nigerian midfielder, who joined in February, played a significant role in Coventry’s successful campaign and is expected to remain an important figure in the squad moving forward.
Attention will now shift to the summer transfer window, with Coventry looking to strengthen their squad to compete at the highest level.
Lampard described the promotion as a major milestone for the club, acknowledging the long journey back after years outside the top division. He also paid tribute to former manager Mark Robins for his role in rebuilding the team.
The Coventry boss admitted the achievement was especially meaningful, highlighting the supporters’ dedication and the significance of securing promotion away from home.
