Celtic line up swoop for experienced 32-year-old Premier League player ahead of Tottenham
Celtic F.C. are reportedly exploring a move to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool F.C. this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur F.C. also in the race for the left-back’s signature.
Robertson is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season after it was confirmed he will not be extending his contract. The Scotland international is therefore set to become a free agent, attracting interest from multiple clubs.

Having enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Liverpool—winning both the Premier League and Champions League—Robertson is now preparing for a new chapter in his career. A return to Scotland could offer a storybook conclusion, although competition for his signature remains strong given his availability on a free transfer.
Reports suggest Tottenham are currently leading the race, with personal terms believed to be agreed ahead of the summer window. Financially, a move to Spurs may prove more straightforward, as Robertson is expected to demand a significant wage package—potentially beyond Celtic’s current structure.
Celtic also face a tactical dilemma, with Kieran Tierney already an established option at left-back. Accommodating both players in the same starting lineup could prove challenging unless positional adjustments are made.
Despite these hurdles, Robertson’s quality and experience make him an attractive option, and Celtic may still push for a deal—particularly if Tottenham’s move collapses. While Spurs’ Premier League status could influence the player’s decision, they remain a strong contender even in uncertain circumstances.
Previous reports have indicated that Robertson would be open to a move to Parkhead, having been linked with the club earlier this year. Whether that interest develops into a concrete transfer remains to be seen as the summer window approaches
