Huge blow as EFL club’s new stadium project faces High Court battle over £130m scheme
Oxford United F.C.’s ambitious stadium project has been thrown into uncertainty after a High Court legal challenge was launched.
Campaigners are attempting to block the club’s proposed 16,000-seat ground at “the Triangle” near Kidlington, alleging the council acted unlawfully in granting permission. Concerns raised include environmental risks, questions over nearby woodland, and doubts surrounding traffic planning.
Law firm Leigh Day, representing the group, has asked the court to overturn the approval, arguing key objections were ignored. The case will now be reviewed by a judge to determine whether it proceeds to a full hearing.
