Connor Barron earns renewed Scotland hope ahead of the World Cup as the national team prepares to announce an expanded squad
Connor Barron could see a glimmer of World Cup hope after Steve Clarke revealed Scotland must submit a provisional 55-man squad for the tournament in North America.
Barron, who missed Scotland’s recent friendlies against Japan and Ivory Coast after returning from a knee injury in March, faces stiff competition for a spot, having only made two brief appearances since his comeback.
While a World Cup call-up still feels distant for the 23-year-old Rangers midfielder, the expanded squad provides some reason for optimism—and Clarke himself found the requirement amusing, joking he’s “definitely number 55.”
