Odin Thiago Holm is reportedly closing in on a loan move away from Celtic FC after a challenging period in LA that has stalled his progress.

The midfielder has slipped out of the picture in Glasgow, having not featured since a 3-0 win over St Mirren FC in August 2024. A loan switch to Los Angeles FC last January was meant to reignite his career, but he managed just five appearances after battling a rare health condition that he described as leaving him “half-paralysed.”

Now focused on getting back on track, Holm looks set for a return to Norway, with reports linking him to a loan move back to Vålerenga Fotball — the club he left in a £2.6 million deal to join Celtic.

His arrival in Scotland coincided with Brendan Rodgers’ return, although the move had already been lined up under Mark Lawwell. Opportunities were limited, with Holm starting just four games in his debut season, despite later insisting he still had “unfinished business” at Celtic during his time in the US.

A lifelong admirer of Thiago Alcântara, Holm even went as far as legally adding “Thiago” to his name in 2017 after years of persuasion with his parents. Earlier in his career, he attracted interest from top European sides like Juventus FC, AC Milan, and Manchester United FC, but opted to stay in Norway with Vålerenga to secure regular first-team football.
