“you’re a c**t” led” – Mauricio Pochettino chelsea coach might be SACK as pressure mount after Draw match with Brentford (2-2)
During Chelsea’s draw at Brentford, fans chanted for Jose Mourinho to show how angry they were at Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea fans were angry with Mauricio Pochettino again during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brentford. They chanted insults at the Argentine coach and the club’s owner, Todd Boehly. The Blues’ away fans made the blow even harder by showing support for former owner Roman Abramovich and head coach Jose Mourinho while they were still having trouble at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Before the west London match, Chelsea had only won one of their last four Premier League games, including last weekend’s heartbreaking loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
Pochettino’s team was still feeling bad about what happened when they played poorly against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge last week and lost 3-2 in the FA Cup.
And it didn’t get much better against Brentford. Mads Roerslev and Yoane Wissa scored goals to cancel out Nicolas Jackson’s first-half goal, which put the home team ahead 2-1 with 20 minutes left.
That caused angry yelling from the away fans who had just seen Chelsea lose 2-0 to Brentford at home earlier this season. They were angry at Pochettino and the present Chelsea management.
Roman Abramovich and “Boehly, you’re a c**t” were the first words chanted. “F**k off Mauricio” and “Jose Mourinho” came next.
Pochettino is failing to win over Chelsea fans, who have grown used to average play since Abramovich gave Boehly the keys.
From the moment he walked through the doors of Stamford Bridge, the 52-year-old knew he was up against it. He had been in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, a rival team in the city, before.
Chelsea is in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and will play Leicester City at home. But a lot of people thought they had to win the Carabao Cup because Jurgen Klopp’s team won the match at Wembley.
The Blues are also further from the bottom of the Premier League than they are from the top spot, where they are currently ranked 11th with 10 wins and 26 losses.
It’s looking less likely that Pochettino’s team will make it to Europe this year. That, along with the fact that his relationships with allies are getting worse, could put him in a situation where he can’t survive.
It’s unclear if Mourinho would be interested in a third stint as Chelsea manager. Since then, he has been in charge of Tottenham and AS Roma.
He is, however, free to play because he was fired by Roma earlier this year, and Chelsea could choose him if they want to make a change.
This is likely to give Pochettino time to improve things with Chelsea as long as they have a chance to win the FA Cup.
But those screaming fans might get what they want if they fail to win any trophies and if they don’t play in Europe again next season.
