“You are going to be awful when you are bad” – Manchester City 53-years-old coach Pep Guardiola says that Manchester United should “accept reality” of the power shift that has occurred at Manchester City
The fact that Manchester City has established themselves as the dominant power in English and European football, let alone in Manchester, leaves Manchester United with the task of figuring out how to catch up to their competitors.
It is necessary for Manchester United to acknowledge the fact that they are the underdogs in the Manchester derby before they can have any hope of catching up to and surpassing Manchester City.
Specifically, this is the warning that was sent by Pep Guardiola, who revealed that Manchester United was making an effort to “knock City off their perch,” as Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner of the club, put it.
Following Ratcliffe’s acquisition of approximately 27 percent of United, which allowed him to take control of the football operations, the new chief proceeded to make a number of high-profile appointments off the field. One of these appointments was for Omar Berrada, who was the chief operational officer of City, to take over as CEO. It is possible that former City academy director Jason Wilcox will follow if Ratcliffe continues to wax lyrical about the excellence of City’s off-field operations and on-field performance.
In particular, Ratcliffe referred to the devastation of Real Madrid by Manchester City in the Champions League during the previous season as the best game he had ever witnessed. He said that it was even better than the golden days of Sir Matt Busby or Sir Alex Ferguson at his beloved United. Guardiola referred to those remarks as “an honor,” and he concurred with the notion that United can only make progress if they are forthright in acknowledging the extent to which they lag behind his City organization.
In all honesty, the best approach to improve is to have a complete understanding of what actually took place. The most effective method is to have a conversation with oneself about what the reality is, what we are doing, and what the next chapter will be,” Guardiola remarked with a smile.
“You are going to be awful when you are bad. There is no such thing as being excellent when you are not so. We have no choice but to acknowledge that it occurred to us. The best way to proceed is after that. The greatest approach to diminish, come back, and get closer to the team you want to be is to accept that they are still a little bit behind as they continue to accept that they are a little bit behind.
Guardiola has insisted that City will replace Berrada and other key figures who have lately left the club. He is aware that other clubs, such as United and Liverpool, would be ready to exploit the situation if the Blues allow it to happen. Berrada was appointed by United, and other key figures have recently left the club.
“In the recent past, a great number of executives and prominent players have left the company. Because they are required to, new people are coming. I expect nothing less than the very best from myself. It is necessary for them to set high standards for themselves,” he explained.
In every single department, there is always room for improvement. Aside from that, we should just wait and analyze what we have accomplished, while the other teams are now working. They are working even if we are resting. And putting forth additional effort because they are determined to force you to leave where you are. It is not unusual. A sport is similar to that. There is always room for improvement. Not just the players, managers, and staff members in the backroom. All of the club’s departments are required to feel because they are the ones that wish to accomplish it. They are trying to get you to leave.”
