The Wigan Warriors rugby league team won a historic quadruple at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, thanks to Sir Alex Ferguson’s “winning mentality.” Being the first Super League team to win all four major trophies in a single season, the Warriors beat Hull Kingston Rovers 9–2 to win their second straight title at the famous stadium.

The group won the League Leaders’ Shield, the World Club Challenge, and the Challenge Cup. Their coach was Matt Peet, who said he was a Manchester United fan. Even though Peet had already said that Ferguson was one of his coaching heroes, he now said that he had set up a team talk with Ferguson for the night before the important game with the Warriors players.

It is well known that Ferguson was the most successful manager in United’s history at Old Trafford, thanks to his strict management style. Ferguson won the European Winners’ Cup once, the FA Cup five times, the League Cup four times, and the Champions League twice.

Ferguson led United to their first-ever Treble, which included the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. Of all the 49 big trophies they won under his leadership, that was one of the most impressive. Peet talked about this accomplishment when he talked about the famous manager’s team talk to his players, which made it sound like he thought the Warriors were on track to do something similar with their quadruple.

“Sir Alex gave all of the lads their jerseys,” the 40-year-old said. We got in touch through a friend we both had. We just thought that something like when United won the Treble was about to happen. We thought he’d be great because he played at Old Trafford and with Sir Alex, who built careers by helping homegrown players get better.

Peet was amazed by Ferguson’s “epic” speech and said that the famous manager had the power to captivate an audience, which left him and his players speechless. He went on, “Thank goodness we were able to make that happen, and as you can imagine, he was epic.”

“Why did you pay attention to every word he spoke? It wasn’t just what he said; it was his presence.” The boys have never been so quiet before. It was wonderful to have a boss like that who is also so humble. You could hear a pin drop. I’ll always be grateful to him for that.

As of now, no other boss in the Premier League has even come close to matching Ferguson’s work at Manchester United since he retired in May 2013. Commentators and other coaches admired the way he taught. Rene Meulensteen, who used to coach the first team, said that the Scotsman was one of a kind because he had so many skills that he could use on the job.

“Personality, commitment and drive, knowledge, the right people, adaptability, man management, and delegating,” the Dutchman said on the Training Ground Guru Podcast.

“People told me, ‘Working with Sir Alex Ferguson must have been hard,'” Most definitely not, it was fun. I never had any worries because of how he handled things and interacted with everyone. As he walked past you during every lesson, he would say, “Well done.”
