When Martinez was done: “Technically brilliant” Another blow to Amorim comes as a United player limps off with an injury.

Before his first game as manager of Manchester United, the last thing Ruben Amorim needs is a long list of injuries to deal with.

As things stand, Lisandro Martinez might not be able to go with the new head coach to Ipswich Town on Sunday. He is an important player. During the international break, he didn’t play for Argentina. Instead, he went straight back to Carrington to get checked out for a knock he got against Leicester City.

The defence took another hit when Victor Lindelof left the game with an injury after only 25 minutes of Sweden’s match against Slovakia on Saturday. Specifics about his injury have not yet been confirmed, so fans can look forward to official information before this weekend’s game.

Amorim has to make plans for when Martinez and Lindelof won’t be there.

Lindelof is one of many Reds players who are spending their last seven months at Old Trafford. His teammate Harry Maguire called him a “technically gifted” player. His contract ends next summer, and since there is no one-year option, you can’t think that INEOS will be in a hurry to offer him new terms. This is especially true since he will turn 31 the month after he might leave the company.

Because of this, he’s about to leave United after eight years. Amorim will then need to bring in more players to improve his options for 2025 and 2026, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t already have some great players at his disposal. Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt can make a strong pairing when they’re on form, and 19-year-old Leny Yoro is widely seen as one of the most exciting defensive prospects in Europe and can’t wait to seize his chances when he returns from injury.

Since Amorim was also on the Benfica team for a short time, Lindelof recently said this about the new manager: “We played together at Benfica, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about him as a coach.” It will be great to see him again.
