Manchester United
When it comes to Manchester United, Simone Inzaghi “agrees” to take over next season.
Even though they beat Brentford in their last Premier League game, Manchester United is still in the bottom half of the results. Still, there is a lot of the season still to go, and Erik ten Hag has a lot to show if he wants to keep being the head coach of the first team next year.
If things keep going this way, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Dutch manager was fired, maybe even in the middle of the season. Now we know that Man United is already making plans for life after Ten Hag. According to Give Me Sport, Simone Inzaghi “agrees” to join the Red Devils starting next season after having a few video talks with the club’s leaders.
Thierry Henry called the Inter Milan manager a “genius.” The story also says that the manager will have a “almost unlimited budget” during the transfer window since he agreed to a three-year deal at Old Trafford. Inzaghi still wants to finish the season with Internazionale, so United will need a temporary manager until the summer even if they fire Ten Hag in the middle of the season.
Ten Hag’s time has come.
Erik ten Hag signed a contract with Manchester United that runs until 2026 earlier this summer. If United fires him, they will still have to pay him the money that is due until the end of his contract. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Red Devils gave him until the summer to show that he is the right person for the job.
The team might not be able to win the Premier League, but they are good enough to be in the running for a spot in the top four or to win the Europa League, which would give them a way back into the Champions League. Another thing that could help the 54-year-old is catching silverware in the local cups.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United’s play gets better over the next few weeks. Nevertheless, if that doesn’t happen, Ruud van Nistelrooy will likely be hired as a temporary manager if Ten Hag is fired, and Inzaghi will soon be at Old Trafford before the 2025–26 season.
