The ACC and the SEC have played in the SEC/ACC Basketball Challenge for two years now. In this event, one SEC team plays against an ACC team before the start of league play. This happens in both men’s and women’s basketball, and as of 2023, neither league has the best overall record in basketball for men or women. Both teams have a 7-7 record in 2023.

The test this year will be between the two conferences to see who can do the best. The 16 games will be shown on ESPN over the course of two days, December 3rd and 4th. In their last game, Kentucky beat #8 Miami 95–73, with Reed Sheppard scoring 21 points to lead the way.
