What Pep Guardiola told Jack Grealish before the FA Cup final has been revealed – Reports
Prior to the 2-1 FA Cup final loss of Manchester City to Manchester United, Pep Guardiola engaged in a significant discussion with Jack Grealish.
Jack Grealish, who was frequently relied upon to commence pivotal contests during his tenure at Manchester City, was substituted in the match.
It was reported on Tuesday that City may attempt to trade the Englishman during the summer transfer window.
Sam Lee, an analyst for The Athletic, reports that prior to the FA Cup final, Pep Guardiola advised Jack Grealish to return to his pre-FA Cup final form the following season, both on and off the field.
According to the report, City’s number 10 believes his season was a “write-off” for a variety of reasons, including injuries, off-field issues, and a challenge to maintain motivation after winning the treble.
It is believed that Guardiola and Grealish engage in numerous conversations of this nature concerning his disposition and performance.
Pep Guardiola was cognizant of the fact that his Manchester City squad’s motivation would diminish as a result of the treble victory.
However, the former Aston Villa player may have required more focus in this area, as he exhibited a decline in performance throughout the entire season.
Moreover, it is hypothesized that Grealish endured harm as a result of the intrusion that transpired within his domicile in the presence of his spouse and family members.
A month of alleged distractions was caused by the three-time Premier League champion’s psyche as a result of the incident.
Grealish also endured a number of injury issues, as evidenced by the allegation that he attempted to regain his starting position for City against Luton Town in the FA Cup by rushing back.
Guardiola was also of the opinion that the decorated attacker was not adequately caring for himself, as he frequently went out with his companions.
However, the Champions League champion was not at his peak even during training.
There have been reports suggesting that Pep Guardiola communicated his concerns to Jack Grealish on multiple occasions throughout the 2023/2024 campaign.
According to the allegation, the Sky Blues were granted a three-day rest period in between their matches against Wolves and Fulham.
Pep Guardiola decided that the Englishman’s efforts did not even come close to reaching the necessary standards when the players resumed training.
Consequently, the Catalan omitted Grealish from his matchday squad to face Fulham, as he failed to make a single appearance in the final four league games for his side. Guardiola stated publicly that the 28-year-old was ruled out due to illness.
It is commonly believed that Pep Guardiola was “frustrated” and “furious” with Jack Grealish at times, but he actually admires him as a player and a person of integrity.
A departure from Manchester City is not anticipated for Grealish, in part due to the substantial transfer fee that would be required.
