Myles Turner left the Indiana Pacers in free agency after playing for the franchise for ten years.
As a first-time free agent, Myles Turner signed a $107 million, four-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Since Turner is riding high after leading the Pacers to their first-ever NBA Finals appearance, the decision came as a shock. Turner, though, seems to have made a measured choice.
Turner also promised the Bucks a lot before his first season with the team.
Myles Turner makes ‘evolving’ announcement after joining Milwaukee Bucks
I find Turner’s choice to join the Pacers’ Eastern Conference rivalry somewhat shocking. Following Turner’s departure, even Rick Carlisle, head coach of the Pacers, has been embarrassed.
The salt in the wound was further deepened by Turner’s recent YouTube chat with Kyrie Irving, star of the Dallas Mavericks.
I wanted to express my gratitude, at least from my perspective.
For the individuals who have rocked it alongside me for the whole of this decade in Indiana.
However, I also made it clear that I had made the right choice for my family right now.
“Thought it was the best choice for me as I entered my prime,” Turner remarked, prompting Irving to inquire if there was an improved version of himself.
“Absolutely. Oh, brother, I’m evolving. We [NBA players] are all on the same path throughout this same journey in this league. Some people get it early. Some people get it late.
“I was blessed and fortunate enough to get it a couple of years ago, that this is not my best form.
“I’ve definitely changed as an individual, and I know I’m evolving towards my better self,” Turner added.
In simple terms, Turner promised that the Bucks would see a better version of himself than what the Pacers ever did.
