What chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino will do if he is “sacked” after losing the Carabao Cup to Liverpool

Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of heat after Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Reports say that Mauricio Pochettino could be fired by Chelsea if they don’t make it to European play this season. Pochettino is under more heat now that his team lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool, who was missing key players, and the Blues didn’t play well at Wembley.

He said he wanted to see the game go to a spot shootout, but Virgil van Dijk scored the game-winner in the 118th minute. The loss to the Reds, who were missing 10 players and finished the game with a young team, was the worst part of Pochettino’s first season at Stamford Bridge.

Since the BlueCo group bought Chelsea in May 2022, they have spent more than £1 billion on new players. On the other hand, they are 11th in the Premier League and will almost certainly not make it to the Champions League.

Pochettino says he still has the trust of the people in charge at Stamford Bridge. But The Times says that if they don’t make it to European competition, the former Tottenham boss might leave in the summer.

If Chelsea had won their game against Liverpool, they would have immediately moved on to the Conference League play-off round. The west Londoners are only four points behind seventh place in the Premier League, which means they could possibly make it to the third-tier European competition.

But they would probably have to play much better because Brighton, West Ham, Wolves, and Newcastle are all better than Chelsea and have a better chance of taking the spot.

Besides that, Pochettino said he talked with co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali after the Carabao Cup final. He says he showed their support, but he also said that Eghbali thought they “missed a chance” to win a prize.

“They showed their support and after the game Todd sent a nice message,” said Pochettino. “When I saw the owners in the stadium, I said hello, and then I met Behdad and we talked.”

“We talked about how we felt about the game and how we missed the chance to win a trophy, even though I thought we played really well for 90 minutes.”

“I don’t have control over it.” We have a great connection with the owners and the director of sports. They can choose to trust or not. The coach doesn’t make the choice.
