Week 8 illness report from 49ers’ Deebo Samuel is not clear.
Surprisingly, the San Francisco 49ers are down to three wins and four losses after seven games. They are currently three games behind the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West race. Up front, injuries have ruined Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, and the rest of the attack so far this season.
George Kittle and Jauan Jennings have both lost time this season because of injuries, as has Christian McCaffrey. As a result of what turned out to be pneumonia, star wide receiver Deebo Samuel missed most of last week’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and had to go to the hospital afterward.
Even though Samuel’s sickness is very scary, he is still trying to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk says that he has trained twice this week, but he’s still not sure if he can go.
When asked if he thought he’d be able to play this week, Samuel said, “We’ll see.” He also said that the last two days of practice had “been solid.” “Also, Samuel talked about when he realized he was really sick: during last Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs.”
Samuel thought about how sick he was and how hard it would have been for him to fight the Chiefs.
“It was scary because it’s really hard to breathe and you can’t take deep breaths,” Samuel told NBCBayArea.com, citing Alper. During that, I was wondering, ‘What’s going on?’ But we found out what was wrong after the game.
After other losses, the 49ers need Deebo Samuel to be healthy.
The 49ers’ offense always benefits from Deebo Samuel, but right now they really need him because their wide receiver room is so bad. The 49ers will be without a true outside divider who can get open against tight defense after Brandon Aiyuk hurt his knee on Sunday and will not be able to play this season.
Jauan Jennings also didn’t play on Sunday, but he should be back soon. In the meantime, Brock Purdy should have someone he can trust. Aside from that, Ricky Pearsall will still need time to get used to the attack after coming back on Sunday.
With so many moving parts in the 49ers’ offense, Shanahan and his staff need Samuel to add some spark to the mix. They will really need him to be able to take the ball out of the backfield, catch it, and make a play afterward, especially until McCaffrey comes back. When it comes to attacking the Cowboys, San Francisco won’t have many options if he can’t go.
