Manchester United plays Liverpool today in the Premier League. They want to get back on track after losing to Chelsea late on Thursday night.
United lost at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night thanks to two late goals from Cole Palmer. United has only won one of their last five Premier League games, and it’s looking less and less possible that they will be able to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Erik ten Hag will want to win that tough match against Liverpool can keep the race for a Champions League spot going until the very end. Three weeks ago, United beat Liverpool 4–3 in the FA Cup quarterfinals. Another win over the Merseysiders would be just what the doctor ordered after a tough night in West London.
In terms of team news, Ten Hag wasn’t sure if Raphael Varane would be able to play again after being substituted against Chelsea, along with Casemiro and Jonny Evans.
Evans came on for Varane at halftime and was taken off early in the second half, which wasn’t typical. He went straight down the tunnel and is a big doubt, so Harry Maguire and Willy Kambwala are expected to start together in central defense.
Klopp’s team scores from a corner kick when Nunez flicks on a shot and Diaz scores. That was way too easy, and Diaz wasn’t marked at the back post, which looks like a bad job.
United has been bad for 10 minutes, so it’s not a surprise that they scored.
