Updates on Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, and Kobbie Mainoo’s injuries and comeback dates for Manchester United

Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, and Leny Yoro all trained with Manchester United on Monday, which was Ruben Amorim’s first day as head coach.

With the end of the international break getting closer, the Portuguese coach got to work at Carrington. Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, and other players will be welcome back by Amorim when their time with the team is over.

As United return to Premier League play on Sunday, the attention was on their trip to Ipswich Town. They want to get off to a winning start under the former Sporting CP manager. The club hasn’t lost in four games since Ruud van Nistelrooy took over, but they are still four points behind the teams in the Champions League spots.

Yoro Lenny

The player who joined in the summer is still making progress in his recovery from a foot injury. Before the international break, he returned to working with the first team. The two-week break would have helped Yoro’s hopes of making his first Premier League matchday squad after surgery in preseason to fix a problem with his metatarsal.

During Amorim’s first training practice, the French player was happy that his recovery was going well. We don’t know yet if Yoro will play in the future under-21s games because he hasn’t played in a real game in England since moving there from Lille.

The Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo was one of the most noticeable people at training on Monday. The England young player hasn’t played since early October because of an injury to his hip.

But the 19-year-old is on the road to recovery and will be hoping to pick up where he left off in a new age at Old Trafford. Amorim will know that pushing players back and then putting them right into action right away puts them at risk of getting hurt more.

Since Mainoo’s performance has been so good over the last 18 months, he may be moved back into the first team. Ipswich could have been too soon.

Possible date of return: November 24.

Manuel Lisandro

Van Nistelrooy’s last game in temporary charge was a 3-0 win over Leicester City on the eve of the international break. Lisandro Martinez played in that game. The tough defender was called up to the Argentina team, but he had to pull out because he seemed to have hurt his back.

He will still be evaluated in the North West, and a trip to Suffolk is coming up soon. Tomorrow, at Portman Road, history will be made as the Tractor Boys welcome back another Premier League giant after being away from England’s top flight for 20 years.

Lionel Scaloni, the boss of Argentina, said this about Martinez’s health: “We didn’t expect the case of Lisandro.” We saw that he had been hit in the back, but he didn’t seem to be hurting badly. When he got here, the pain got a little worse. He was tested and found not to be fit to be here.

Possible return date: Not known

The Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof hasn’t had a good time during the international break. The centre back for Sweden got hurt during their Nations League game against Slovakia last weekend.

During his time at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag had a lot of injury problems in key areas, especially in defence. Right now, Amorim is having a hard time making decisions because of an injured defender.

In defence for Bologna, Emil Holm said, “It’s very sad.” You suffer when you just got back from being hurt and then get hurt again. It was hard to see.

“He was also seriously sad in the locker room.” He is the captain, so everyone knows how important he is to the team. Unfortunately, it was a shame. I embraced him and wished him well.

Possible comeback date: not known

Peter Shaw Luke

Luke Shaw has had terrible luck with injuries during his time at Manchester United. His last game was in February. The left back will try to speed up his recovery by working at the start of November, but his progress will be closely watched over the next few weeks.

Shaw probably paid close attention to Amorim’s first few days at United while he was still getting better. Like Tyrell Malacia, who made his much-anticipated return last week against Huddersfield Town in the EFL Trophy, Shaw will probably use the under-21s schedule to get some playing time before he is brought back into the first team.

Possible comeback date: not known

Howie McGuire

Harry Maguire was not in the set of workout photos that came out on Monday. Before the October international break, the England back was hurt and had to leave the game against Aston Villa in the first half.

Van Nistelrooy had said before, “Harry [Maguire] is still working inside on his recovery.”

Possible comeback date: not known

Malacia Tyrell

The 25-year-old back finally played for the under-21s again after 18 months, this time against Huddersfield Town. Amorim’s first training session as United’s head coach included a lot of young, talented players. He was in that group.

Malacia tore his left knee, but he was able to play through it until it happened again when he came back for preseason. Since then, the Dutch defender has had a string of bad luck, and his last game with the first team was in May 2023. However, the EFL Trophy match was a turning point in his career.

It’s not clear when he’ll come back to the team and be in Amorim’s selection thoughts again, but there are good things about his return.

Possible return date: Not known
