United was told they “missed the boat” when they tried to replace Ten Hag with someone more “innovative” for a “very strange job.”

Guard who used to play for Liverpool and Chelsea, Glen Johnson, says Manchester United “missed the boat” by not hiring Thomas Tuchel “sooner.”

INEOS talked to other managers before giving Erik ten Hag a one-year extension, and the Red Devils were said to be interested in Tuchel over the summer.

Early in the season, there was still talk that Tuchel might go to Manchester United because the Red Devils had a bad start under Ten Hag.

All of that stopped, though, when the Football Association hired Tuchel, who used to be the manager of Chelsea, as their new head coach during the international break.

Johnson also thinks Manchester United made a mistake by not making a move for Tuchel sooner. The former Liverpool back is “over the moon” that the German is taking over as England manager from Gareth Southgate.

Johnson told Betfred, “I’m thrilled that he’s England’s manager.” We have a great team, and now we have a great boss. It will be fun for the boys to work for him, and I think he’ll get the most out of this group.

“I do think Manchester United missed the boat by not hiring him sooner. I feel bad saying that now that they have a manager, but these top managers don’t come along very often, and Manchester United is a tough job that needs a certain kind of person to turn things around.”

Our new co-owners The Premier League club got five new players with help from INEOS during the summer transfer window. However, things have not gone better on the field, and Johnson is frustrated with “how slow things are going” under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team.

He also said, “It’s surprising how slowly things are moving at Manchester United.” Even though the club and players are great, being a boss right now is a very strange job. What would they do if they sacked Ten Hag?

“Although it’s hard, people will still want the job.” Since that’s the case, Erik ten Hag’s presence is still discernible. In my opinion, they should keep him on and wait a few months to see what happens with the team. It’s unlikely that he will be there next season if things don’t get better soon.

According to Edgar Davids, a Dutch great who almost signed for Manchester United in 1996, Ten Hag only needs a top striker to be successful at Old Trafford.

Davey told BetMGM, “I know Erik ten Hag very well.” He worked with me as an intern at FC Utrecht. Many of the things he did were very creative, and I was amazed. He’s very serious and enthusiastic about football.

“Everyone knows things have not gone well at Manchester United.” It’s never easy for a club to start over, but when I look at their front line, I don’t see a consistent scorer that would make such a difference.

“That’s what they have to offer,” I said. Young shooters Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee are good, but they don’t have much experience yet.

There’s no way to know for sure if he’ll stay, but one thing is for sure: results, like at Real Madrid, are what matter, and they haven’t been nearly good enough while he’s been in charge.
