United is “talking” to two players from Swansea, and news about Harry Maguire comes out.

It is said that Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in highly ranked Swansea City youth players Harlan Perry and Brogan Popham.

This is what the Mirror says, saying that both teams have “scheduled meetings” with the players’ agents after expressing interest. Perry is a midfielder for Wales’ under-17 team and is 16 years old. He can’t sign a professional deal until November, when he turns 17.

While this is going on, scouts are said to have really liked Popham, and the Swans will have to work hard to keep the Welsh under-18s defender. The 17-year-old hasn’t signed his first official contract with the Championship club yet, though.

Since both players are only on scholarship terms right now, Swansea will be able to get a settlement fee if they lose either one. However, Tottenham and Arsenal are also said to “admire” the two, though their interest is “nowhere near as strong” as Manchester City’s.

United recently pulled off a huge coup by signing 16-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal. Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were also very interested in the player. The Reds were waiting for the Premier League to give their OK before they could finish the deal.

Also, United apparently won’t rush to decide what to do with Harry Maguire’s future because his contract is coming to an end this summer. The club is thought to have a clause in his deal that lets them extend it for another year.

United is ‘desperate’ not to let Maguire leave for free next summer, according to Football Insider. They think they are in a good situation because the extension can be used if they can’t find a good buyer. Last year, Maguire almost moved to West Ham, but the deal fell through.
