TRANSFER: Chelsea currently in negotiations with Premier League side Bournemouth to loan off star player.

Chelsea has been acquiring players at a higher cost this summer, adding Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, and Joao Felix to an offence that was lacking outside of Cole Palmer, a candidate for Premier League Player of the Season.

However, Chelsea has been aggressively snatching up goalkeepers on the transfer market, much in the same vein that they have been hoarding wingers. Some have even joked that Todd Boehly’s fixation stems from his desire to control young goalkeepers.

Just last summer, Chelsea bought Filip Jorgensen, the breakout player for Villarreal, who will probably start in place of Robert Sanchez going forward—yet another disastrous Chelsea transfer.

In the 2022–2023 Premier League season, Kepa Arrizabalaga was among the greatest goalkeepers; but, for some inexplicable reason, the Spaniard has since become the odd man out.

Kepa is searching for a new location following his season-ending injury as a Chelsea player and his loan move to Real Madrid the previous season, where he was benched in favour of rising sensation Andriy Lunin.

The Premier League may be that landing place, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, as Chelsea and Bournemouth are now negotiating a loan deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Ben Jacobs adds that Kepa would have to extend his contract and probably take a pay cut in order to permit a move to Bournemouth, who clearly lack the financial resources that Real Madrid or Chelsea do. This would provide challenges for Chelsea.

Just as Kepa was unquestionably a star for Chelsea during the challenging 2022–2023 season until being benched in favour of a far inferior player in Sanchez, so too would he be a star player for Bournemouth.

Between Kepa and Chelsea, there is no going back, so the Blues will need to hope he’s willing to play nice to get his next move. If he plays well this season, Bournemouth might be a nice place for him to get Premier League exposure. If that big team decides to start him, it might be Chelsea, but that big club might have second thoughts.
