TRANSFER: Bristol City sensational midfielder leaves club to join Swedish side IFK Norrköping
Carrie Jones, a midfielder for Bristol City, has signed a permanent contract with the Swedish club IFK Norrköping.
This morning, the Robins disclosed the transfer via a post on their official club website.
Bristol City has been informed that IFK Norrköping has paid a charge to acquire Jones’ release from her contract at Ashton Gate.
Jones relocated to Bristol City on a free transfer from Manchester United last summer. The Welsh international midfielder, who is 20 years old, appeared in 18 matches for The Robins in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season, scoring three goals. She was unable to assist the club in maintaining its position in the top division for more than one season.
Jones will embark on a new challenge in the Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan with IFK Norrköping, as Bristol City is now anticipating the possibility of playing in the Barclays Women’s Championship this season. She will be joining a team that is presently in fifth place in the OBOS Damallsvenskan table.
Jones has become the club’s 11th summer departure, despite Bristol City’s confidence in maintaining the overwhelming majority of their 2023/2024 squad for the upcoming season. Additionally, the Robins are currently in search of a new head coach following the departure of their previous supervisor, Lauren Smith, earlier this week.
