They’re Not Real, As Kyrie throws Shade at Celebrity Culture

If there is one thing about Kyrie Irving that you can be certain of, it is that he will communicate his emotions to you.

It has been a consistent feature throughout his career on every team that he has been a part of, including Cleveland, Boston, Brooklyn, and Dallas, where he is currently playing.

After his experience in Brooklyn, he has, without a doubt, been far more successful in avoiding getting involved in genuine scandals, and he has also assumed a position of genuine leadership with the Dallas Mavericks.

Nevertheless, he has been very candid on his recent streams about a wide variety of subjects, including, most recently, his perspective on the worship of celebrities, which is connected to the stardom of the NBA.

“This whole concept of a celebrity is falling apart. The entire concept of stardom is falling apart.

We purchased it [expletive] from the seller… You have folks out there who are human and who conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with their lives.

Even worse, they are not real. Dog, they have no idea that the entire world is a theatre, and among those actors, there are a lot of horrible ones.

Out here, there are a lot of actors who are bad. “Everything in the world is a stage, and there are a lot of terrible actors acting on it.”

The impassioned Irving said this on a live stream recently, discussing his feelings on fame, which comes along with being an NBA superstar.

Though he is going beyond just talking about NBA players, his statement rings true when considering all of the controversies that come out about famous people.

This is not limited to athletics, of course, but he is speaking from the mentality of someone who has been constantly scrutinized publicly.

Irving has been a fantastic player since his trade from Brooklyn, averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists last season for Dallas on 47% from the field and 41% from three.

He suffered a torn ACL on March 3 against the Sacramento Kings, an injury from which he is working back. He will likely be available at some point in February for Dallas.
