Manchester United
There is a twist in the story about Ruben Amorim going to Manchester City after Man United was linked to replacing Erik ten Hag.
There are rumors that Manchester United is also interested in Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, who has been linked with the job of replacing Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
After firing Erik ten Hag, respected writer David Ornstein said that Manchester United are “working on a deal” to hire Amorim. The Portuguese manager is said to be “open” to taking the job.
According to reports, United is also willing to pay the 39-year-old’s €10 million (£8.3 million) release clause to get him.
It was also said on Monday that Manchester United are trying to convince Ruben Amorim to join them by telling him that if Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City next year, the team will become a “fading force.” It was said that Guardiola has agreed to join the Red Devils in general.
Within two weeks, it was said that Manchester City had chosen Amorim to replace Guardiola along with Xabi Alonso in case Guardiola left the club when his contract expired in the summer of 2025.
In other news, Ruben Amorim said he was “100% interested” in taking over as manager of Manchester City and taking on the difficult job of replacing the six-time Premier League winner.
Ruben Amorim could “wait” for the Man City job instead of managing Manchester United right now.
Pep Guardiola has praised Amorim in the past after seeing City play his Sporting team in the Champions League in 2021–2022.
Bruno Fernandes wanted Ruben Amorim to do well in England because he thought that the fans at Old Trafford would enjoy hearing his words.
But writer Guillem Balague says Amorim would rather “wait” for the job at Manchester City and look at Guardiola’s future than go to work for Manchester United.
United is reportedly “pushing” to get the highly-rated manager to sign on the dotted line. They have also talked to Fulham manager Marco Silva about the situation.
There was a report earlier this month that said people in the football world think Guardiola’s feelings about staying at Manchester City change every day.
In October, though, it was thought that Pep Guardiola might be able to extend his deal at Manchester City until 2026. If his team is found guilty of financial wrongdoing by the Premier League, that chance will grow even more.
It was said back in April that Ruben Amorim closely watches Manchester City games because he likes the Catalan manager.
Amorim said something about Hugo Viana that could show he is not going to Manchester City.
In October, Amorim said that Hugo Viana was not connected to his future. Viana will start working as Manchester City’s sports director early next year and will fully take over from Txiki Begiristain at the end of the season.
“They lead in different directions.” Our relationship is just business, and it won’t last forever.
It was said that Ruben Amorim wanted to go to Manchester United. This could mean that he never planned to follow Hugo Viana to the Etihad Stadium.
Now that Guillem Balague has said something new about Amorim’s future, he seems to be on the fence.
On the one hand, Ruben Amorim might be tempted by the chance to help Manchester United get back to their great days.
But a manager who wants to be successful would also believe they could take over as manager of a winning team like Manchester City after Pep Guardiola.
