There are strong hints that Erik ten Hag was overruled on a major transfer choice by a former Manchester United player.
According to Sofyan Amrabat, a former defender for Manchester United, Erik ten Hag was wrong to keep him at Old Trafford this summer.
There was a loan period for the Morocco international at Manchester United last season, but he didn’t stay there longer or sign officially. Instead, he moved to Fenerbahce, also on loan.
During his short time at United, Amrabat didn’t have the best of effects, but his play got better toward the end of last season, which could be seen as the start of his big career.
However, Amrabat has said that Ten Hag’s decision to leave Manchester wasn’t his fault, and he said this as Fenerbahce get ready to play United in the Europa League this evening.
It sounds like Amrabat is strongly implying that the manager would have liked to keep him, but important people on the club’s board must have decided against it, and Manuel Ugarte was brought in from Paris Saint-Germain to fill the spot instead.
The claim that Sofyan Amrabat was transferred and what it means for Manchester United
Managers don’t always have full power over signings, and it can be different from one club to the next. However, Amrabat seems to have said that Ten Hag no longer has the final say on these kinds of deals.
In fact, the 28-year-old man said he thought Jason Wilcox was the main reason he was moving on.
“Ten Hag and I have been close since I was 20 years old at Utrecht,” Amrabat told the Daily Mail.
“I hope the best for him this summer, but not on Thursday,” she said. I want them to lose.
He said, “The only thing I want to say is that you have to ask Mr. Wilcox” when asked again why he was leaving.
It will be interesting to see what else comes out about this, because it could mean that Wilcox and Ten Hag don’t always get along or agree on important squad choices.
