Manchester United
The team that Ruud van Nistelrooy thought would play Manchester United against Chelsea in his second game in charge.
New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will start on Sunday, but Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge again this week.
In his first game as temporary manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy led the team to a 5-2 win over Leicester. This will be his second game in that role.
Manchester United will have a much tougher game this Sunday, though, when Chelsea comes to Old Trafford.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | For | Against | Diff | Points |
14 | Manchester United | 9 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 8 | 11 | -3 | 11 |
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | For | Against | Diff | Points |
5 | Chelsea | 9 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 19 | 11 | 8 | 17 |
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea is the second-best scoring team in the league, making it a tough match for Van Nistelrooy.
We are sure that Ruben Amorim will be keeping a close eye on things from Lisbon as United try to move up to 10th place if everything goes their way.
Which Manchester United players could start against Chelsea
Most of Van Nistelrooy’s team will be the same as the one we saw on Wednesday. Christian Eriksen might be the only player who comes back.
We think that after the win against Leicester, there won’t be many changes.
So, this is how we think United will play against Chelsea.
Irene Onana
We expect Andre Onana to start in goal against Chelsea, even though Altay Bayindir got a rare and well-deserved start on Wednesday night.
João Dalot
Moving to defence, Diogo Dalot should start again at right back because Van Nistelrooy is likely to stick with the players who won his first game.
Theo de Ligt Matthijs
Matthijs de Ligt has been solid since he joined in August, even though he has made some mistakes that got a lot of attention. He should be in line for another start here.
The Victor Lindelof
We think Victor Lindelof will play with De Ligt because the two of them looked good on Wednesday.
Manuel Lisandro
Since Lindelof is now playing centre back, Lisandro Martinez might have to switch back to playing left back, where he really helped keep the team balanced.
Manuel Ugarte
Manuel Ugarte had his best game since joining for £42 million in the summer transfer window against Leicester City. He should start against Chelsea.
Casemiro
Casemiro should play with Ugarte because he and Ugarte worked well together on Wednesday. Casemiro also got two goals, which puts him in a good position to start this one.
Bruno Fernandes
As he got back to form, Bruno Fernandes scored two goals on Wednesday night, so we think Van Nistelrooy will definitely start the club leader again here.
Mark Rashford
Marcus Rashford has been playing on the right side of attack more and more these past few weeks. He did a good job here, so we think he will be in line for another start.
Diego Alejandro Garnacho
Every time United plays, Alejandro Garnacho shows that he is their most dangerous player. We expect his name to be near the top of the team sheet right now.
Rasmus Hojlund
This is the last move we expect. Rasmus Hojlund will start up front instead of Joshua Zirkzee as he tries to add to the two goals he already has this season.
