This upcoming season, ESPN has identified some obstacles that the Georgia Bulldogs may face.
The Georgia Bulldogs are bringing yet another excellent squad with them this season.
ESPN went ahead and listed a potential flaw in their roster that could trip them up this season.
Many starting defensive players left Georgia this season, with the majority going to the NFL draft. This is nothing new for the Gators. However, the pass rush was where they really suffered heavy casualties.
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, Chaz Chambliss, Warren Brinson, and Damon Wilson are among the players who moved to Missouri. “They had a combined total of 18 sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss in 2024,” noted Mark Schlabach.
To make matters worse, a potential successor named Damon Wilson moved to Missouri. Elo Modozie, a transfer from the Army, had 6.5 sacks for the Black Knights last season, and Gabe Harris Jr. is someone the Gators are confident in.
This season, Georgia hopes that players like Xzavier McLeod, Christen Miller, and Jordan Hall can wreak havoc on opposing defensive lines.
Isaiah Gibson, Quintavious Johnson, and Darren Ikinnagbon are three more freshmen to watch.
Chris Cole, a linebacker, has the potential to take after Jalon Walker’s hybrid style from last season. He may not fill in exactly where Walker left off last year, but he has the build to contribute in a variety of ways for the Gators.
In light of Georgia’s disappointing season, defensive coordinator Glenn Schummann has indicated that the Bulldogs would return to their more traditional form of simulated pressure defense this year.
