The most talented player in the nation… Ally McCoist discusses the person he believes to be improving at the moment: Are you Phil Foden or Bukayo Saka?
Ally McCoist thinks that Phil Foden of Manchester City is the “best player in the country” right now, even more so than Bukayo Saka of Arsenal.
People have been arguing for a long time about whether Phil Foden or Bukayo Saka is the better player. After coming up through the ranks at the places where they played as kids, both players have done very well.
Over the last couple of seasons, Saka has become Arsenal’s star player.
Foden had a hard time getting a spot in Pep Guardiola’s star-studded City team in the past.
The 23-year-old has had a different season, though, as he’s become an important player at the Etihad Stadium.
Naturally, Foden’s play has made people compare him to Saka, Arsenal’s main player. And Ally McCoist thinks Foden is just a little bit better than Brady right now.
McCoist says Saka is not as good as Foden.
McCoist talked on TalkSPORT (4/3 8:53 am) about why he thinks Foden is the best player in the Premier League right now.
“Who is the best player?” It’s possible that I agree with you that Foden is technically more skilled right now, and I think he’s the better player right now,” he said.
“I love Saka, and just for fun, I think my international team would have Saka on the right, Foden on the left, and Harry Kane in the middle.”
“But Saka’s form dropped a bit a few weeks ago, which is normal and acceptable; it happens to all players.”
“He has come back strong, and his play with Odegaard has been especially good. But right now, I think Foden might be the best player in the country.”
“But that doesn’t mean nothing bad about Saka; I think he’s a great player.” “But right now, I think Foden is the best player in the country.”
Foden has scored 18 goals and set up 10 others across all categories this season. In contrast, Saka has scored 16 goals and set up 13 others.
But there’s more to football than stats, and both players have been very important to their teams’ wins this season.
It makes sense to compare the two since both will be very important in the race for the title and England’s hopes at the Euros this summer.
Still, you can enjoy both players’ talent without trying to compare them.
