Xabi Alonso’s meteoric ascent as a manager has not come as a surprise to Dirk Kuyt, who worked with him at Liverpool in the past. Kuyt has urged his former colleague to take advantage of any opportunity to follow Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The former Netherlands international says that his former teammate, Alonso, was always destined to become a coach. Kuyt played with Alonso for three years at Anfield before the latter made a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 for a fee of thirty million pounds.

Bayer Leverkusen, which is managed by Alonso, is now in the top spot in the Bundesliga with a 10-point advantage. Additionally, they are in the final eight of the Europa League, where they will face West Ham United before potentially facing either Roma or AC Milan in the semifinals.

Kuyt claims that Alonso was always studying the game while they were both working at Liverpool, and that this made him stand out as a natural match for management and management positions.

“Well, you know, if you look at former team-mates and players, sometimes you question they can become a coach and then you see them doing really well in a management job,” Kuyt remarked in a conversation with the before the legends’ match against Ajax on Saturday. “Well, you know, if you look at them, occasionally you wonder they can become a coach. Xabi, on the other hand, stands out to me as someone who possesses the qualities of a potential coach.

“Throughout his career, I followed him and the steps he took,” she said. I believe that he did a really good job of managing a couple of U23 teams, but then he was given his first opportunity at Bayer Leverkusen, and I believe that it was the path that he should have taken.

“It is down to him that he has brought them to the next level because all of a sudden he is contending for the league title in Germany. This is something that is quite incredible since for the past several years, Bayern Munich has consistently been in the top spot, and Borussia Dortmund has been in second place.

Now that Xabi is there, I believe that people are nearly unable to imagine that Bayern Munich is not going to be the team that wins the title. This demonstrates the qualities that Xabi Alonso possesses as a manager.

Sometimes good things happen extremely quickly, and for me, obviously, he was always a man during our playing time who was constantly thinking about the game; thinking tactically; talking always tactically outside of the pitch. People can say that it has come too quickly, but sometimes good things come very quickly.

One day, you might be able to observe a manager from a distance, and it would be incredible for me if one of my old teammates, such as Xabi or possibly Steven Gerrard, were to become a manager of Liverpool Football Club in the future. It would be incredible, and I believe that both of them will be successful.

Obviously, you can see that Stevie is a little further away from the job at this point, but he also has experience with Glasgow Rangers and then Aston Villa. He may be in a position where people do not like him, but he is still working hard and gaining experience, which, in my opinion, is the best way to improve as a manager. He is currently in a position where people do not like him.

“The situation is the same with Xabi. Xabi is my former teammate, and I am extremely pleased of what he is doing there as a manager. I am really looking forward to finding out who will win the job, but if he actually does get it, I wish him the best of luck and I am really proud of him.

Kuyt confesses that he was taken aback when he learned of Klopp’s decision to step down at the end of the season, which he made in late January. He believes that the best way for him to leave the team would be to win the Premier League championship in his final match, which will take place in May.

“It was a bit crazy to see the news a couple of weeks ago,” Kuyt is quoted as saying. “It was a little bit surreal, but everyone can see how much effort not only the players but also the staff and the manager are putting into the club,” said the manager.

As you can see, it requires a significant amount of energy from him, and it is a significant decision on his part. However, it is also a good decision because he believes that there will come a day when he will no longer be able to offer the same amount of energy that he is giving on a daily basis.

The feeling that it is too early for him to leave is shared by everyone, including myself. However, it is true that there are situations in which it is preferable to leave too early rather than too late. This is something that managers sometimes experience. To say that he is one of the best managers in the history of Liverpool Football Club would be an understatement. The things that he has accomplished for the club are just incredible.

One of the things that I want for him is that he reconsiders his course of action! That is not the case; it is a joke; but, my hope is that he will complete his time at Liverpool with a league championship. That is going to be incredible, it is going to be wonderful.

“I think Jurgen Klopp will always be remembered as one of the best managers at Liverpool but if he manages to win the league on the day he says goodbye to the club, it will be something historical.”

Kuyt has this to say about the legends’ encounter that will take place this coming weekend: “It is always very special to play a legends’ match, especially at Anfield, because every time I have played there so far, there was a really big crowd coming up, so that makes it even more special.” In addition, it is a fairly remarkable experience to compete against my rival team in Holland, Ajax.

As a result of the fact that there are some of my friends who are playing for the Ajax squad, I am very looking forward to the match between the legends and I am really delighted that I will be able to be there. Not only have they always been my competitors, but they still are to some extent.

“To be able to return to Liverpool is a truly remarkable experience. There are a few times a year that I make an effort to return to Anfield in order to watch a game, but the fact that I will be back on the field, that I will be back with my former teammates, and that I will be back with the supporters at a full Anfield is what makes it truly remarkable.

“We talk about a lot of great feelings, but the particular feeling is that we are doing it for a good cause, we are doing it for the city of Liverpool, and we are trying to give something back, and that is what makes these kinds of games very memorable. I don’t believe that it is only for me; rather, I believe that it is for everyone that is participating.
