On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers said that running back La’Mical Perine would no longer be on their practice squad. After a number of injuries at running back, the Steelers signed Perine. However, since Cordarrelle Patterson was expected to return after the bye week, the team no longer needed Perine on their practice squad. This could mean that Aaron Shampklin, who was cut before Monday’s game, will be able to join the team again.

Perine joined the Steelers during the summer and trained with them all through training camp and the preseason. Perine was drafted by the New York Jets and played for many years with the Kansas City Chiefs, helping them win two Super Bowls.

But now that the Steelers have healthier running backs, Perine will have to find a new place. The plan was always there for him to use, but the remains to be seen.

Along with cutting Perine, the Steelers also took safety Thomas Graham off the practice squad to make room for someone else.
