The Cats need Andrew Carr more than ever.

The fact that this 2024–25 Kentucky Wildcats basketball team doesn’t depend on just a few guys to win every night is one of the best things about them.

There are a lot of guys on the team who can make shots and help in different ways.

Everyone on Mark Pope’s team could score a lot of points in any given game.

But in the UK’s biggest moments so far this season, there has been one player who stands out.

Wake Forest move in Carr has given the Cats some of his best basketball when they needed him the most.

Carr scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds, and gave out three assists in Kentucky’s 77–72 comeback win over Duke in the Champions Classic.

When he beat the Zags on Saturday night in Seattle, the 6-11 forward from West Chester, PA, showed it wasn’t a fluke.

Carr worked hard to get 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the win in OT.

It looked like every time Gonzaga had a chance to put the game out of reach, Carr’s calm play kept UK in striking distance.

The way he charges his defender with purpose is fun to watch. He also has a nice touch around the basket. The big man can do a lot of different things, but he never seems to be in a hurry or try to push the ball where it doesn’t belong. Also, he’s an underrated passer on a team full of great shots. He’s almost 7 feet tall and has already set up 23 goals this season.

Because Andrew Carr can make shots from long range, the defense has to cover the whole court, which makes Kentucky’s attack even harder to stop.

All the great things Andrew Carr does on the court may not even compare to how he acts when he’s not playing.

He really wants to be in Lexington and will do anything to help his team win.
