Liverpool
The best times of my life were with Liverpool, not Chelsea, where I won the Champions League
Before going to Chelsea in 2011, Fernando Torres played 142 games for Liverpool and scored 81 goals.
Fernando Torres, a former scorer for Liverpool, can’t wait to go back to Anfield for the LFC Foundation charity match this weekend. He wants to relive some good times there.
To play against an Ajax icons team, Torres will be on the Reds’ legs. The LFC Foundation helps kids and families all over Merseyside, and the money raised from the game will go to them.
It will be the first time since 2015, when he played for Chelsea, that the Spanish forward has played at Anfield. When he went to Chelsea for £50 million in 2011, “El Nino” had a hard time getting used to his new team and not reaching the heights he did with Liverpool.
The current young manager at Atletico Madrid told LiverpoolFC.com that he only has good memories of playing for the Reds as he looks forward to his return this weekend. Torres said, “To be honest, I can’t wait.”
“I’m really excited about it because it’s been a long time.” I can’t wait to visit the city and the stadium again, meet the fans, and see many of my old friends. I remember the good times we had together.
“I can’t wait to play for Liverpool in front of the Kop again.” A lot of memories, so I’m excited about it.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to play that match many times by the foundation.” I couldn’t go, though, for different reasons. And it’s harder to find time to go now that I’m teaching. This time, I was able to go.
There are a lot of people being helped by the LFC Foundation, which is great. To help is the main reason to go.
I also feel very lucky to be able to play back at Anfield. Many memories, most likely from my best years playing football. That place is unique, and I can’t wait to visit it.
Here is where fans can buy tickets for the charity game on Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m.
