The Arsenal forward and Manchester United midfielder are two Premier League players who look like they’re done with their clubs.

Even though there are only seven games left in the 2024–25 Premier League season, we already know that seven players will be leaving their present clubs in January or the summer following.

These guys got the idea from an Arsenal forward who isn’t playing well…

Players in the Premier League who look like they’re done with their club

Gabriel Jesus (Chester)

Jesus hasn’t been liked by Arsenal fans for a while now, which is a shame because his first few months with the club were great. His arrival along with Oleksandr Zinchenko started a new era at the Emirates, and their desire to win was what won the club trophies. The former Manchester City pair has quickly outgrown their size, which is a shame.

Because he is hurt, Zinchenko can’t get a kick, and even when he is healthy, it’s hard to see him starting over Riccardo Calafiori or Jurrien Timber. Jakub Kiwior, Kieran Tierney, and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also competing for the left back place.

As for Jesus, he’s had a few small injuries this season and hasn’t been very good when he’s been on the field for Arsenal. The Brazilian is obviously a great football player, and it might be a matter of trust, but he didn’t sign up to play only a few minutes off the bench when he joined the Gunners two years ago.

The 27-year-old’s new job at Arsenal is to cover Kai Havertz and make things easier for Bukayo Saka. He will have to work hard to pass the German in Mikel Arteta’s eyes, and a summer exit in 2025 wouldn’t surprise anyone.

George Weah (West Ham)

In the summer, West Ham brought in a lot of new players, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, the team’s new boss, Julen Lopetegui, didn’t want to start all of them right away. This gave Coufal a chance to show his new boss how good he is, but after starting against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, the Czech right back has only come off the bench twice and hasn’t played in any of his team’s last three Premier League games.

There is no shame in being phased out by a Premier League team when you are 32 years old and definitely past your best. That is what happened to Coufal; he will only play if Wan-Bissaka gets hurt or suspended. Another bad thing is that West Ham isn’t in Europe this season for the first time since 2020/21, so he won’t have those chances either.

Chelsea player Mykhaylo Mudryk:

Since joining Chelsea in the summer, head coach Enzo Maresca has been very blunt about Mudryk’s play, telling him that he needs to get better. No sugar-coating has been done, and it’s fair; the Ukrainian winger has been a huge letdown since moving from Shakhtar Donetsk to Arsenal for £62 million in January 2023.

It was never a good sign that Pedro Neto was signed in the summer. Usually, this would make players in his place who are having trouble step up, but that hasn’t happened with Mudryk. During the first game, he came on as a substitute but did not play. During the second game, he was hooked at halftime and has not played in the Premier League since.

The Europa Conference League gives Mudryk a good chance to show what he can do, and if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t be crazy to think that he would leave Chelsea next summer. It has an Arsenal smell. Arteta wanted him before Chelsea messed up the deal because they love a Chelsea reject.

Dan Diaz Ben Brereton (Southampton)

Brereton Diaz made history in September by playing in more Premier League games than anyone else. Last year, he was at Sheffield United and lost 10 games and tied 4; Southampton’s slow start sealed the deal. After a heartbreaking 1-1 draw with Ipswich and a loss at Bournemouth, they have now gone 20 games without a win.

Yes, it’s not all his fault that he now holds this bad record and has played for two pants teams, but really, come on.

I remember an old text from an Everton fan to Eliaquim Mangala that said, “Seriously mate, no joking please just don’t play again pre-season not suited to u pal your crap no hard feelings just not worked out.”

Matty Cash—Aston Villa

Cash has never been very good at defense, and this season has shown it by making hasty choices and being exposed when he should have been playing. He’s always had something that helped him move forward, but even that is getting worse.

Even though Cash has missed a lot of games this season because of injuries, Aston Villa seems to have outgrown him and Diego Carlos and Ezri Konsa look like better choices at right back.

Casemiro plays for Manchester United.

Even though we’ve known this for a while, it seems important to stress it again. Casemiro needs to stop playing football before the football stops playing him, but it’s hard to blame him for taking home a big paycheck every week from Man United.

Fans at Old Trafford were hopeful that Casemiro would be close to his best in 2024–25 after a good preseason and opening day performance against Fulham. However, two mistakes led to goals in a humiliating first half against Liverpool on matchday three, and fans were ready for Manuel Ugarte to be put in the starting XI.

Ugarte has been bad since he started, but he shouldn’t be thrown out so soon. Casemiro, on the other hand, has been bad for too long and isn’t ready for this level anymore. It’s a shame because that defensive player used to be the best in the world.

Although Newcastle wanted to get rid of him in the summer, the Paraguayan didn’t want to go. This made it harder for them to find a new center back and right-sided forward. It doesn’t matter how you feel about Almiron as a Newcastle fan—he is quickly becoming a player that the club can’t afford.

In the Premier League this season, Almiron has only played 30 minutes, and he probably won’t play again until January.
