Terrifying Moment I was Robbed in Harlem as Kyrie Irving Opens Up!

The terrifying feeling of becoming a victim of a robbery can happen to anyone. But Kyrie Irving remembers it in a way that makes him laugh and smile widely.

On a recent live stream with internet celebrity Kai Cenat, he discussed, among other things, the time he was a juvenile robber in Harlem.

“Have you ever been robbed before?”asked Irving to Cenat on stream. When Cenat responded in the affirmative, both Irving and Cenat started laughing.

“I’m sorry, I’m not laughing, this is PTSD laughing. We’re laughing out of PTSD, y’all,” said Irving as he clarified why he burst into laughter.

“Getting robbed is probably the worst feeling ever,” said Cenat.

“My stomach dropped, my stomach dropped,” said Irving as he started recalling the incident.

“My sh** was over like literally, he came on a bike. I’m coming out of the corner store, so I’m thinking sh** sweet in Harlem. He went, ‘Ayo, I need that, what do you got in here?’ and he went through my bag, bro.”

“I was a kid too, so he was like ‘Give me that sh**!’ Bro, I’m not gonna lie to you, that’s what inspired me to keep playing ball.”

Irving, unlike most people, found inspiration in the face of misfortune, rather than becoming a victim himself.

He was motivated to improve his skills even after being robbed, so he could help his community and put an end to robbery.

Although he spent his childhood in West Orange, New Jersey, Kyrie Irving was actually born in Australia. While he was a kid, he says he often went to Harlem.

Irving continues to frequent Rucker Park, where he played on the legendary basketball court that was also used in his now-famous Uncle Drew film.

This episode was webcast live by Kyrie Irving from the property of NBA legend Tony Parker, who graciously hosted the AMP Summer event at his San Antonio residence.

Twelve hours of filming takes place every day at the estate and other San Antonio sites for the event. Irving then spent an entire episode of his stream talking to Kai Cenat about his favourite snacks and meals, which he enjoys when he’s free.

After passing on a player option for $43 million, the Mavericks star extended his contract with the club this summer for three more years at $119 million.

After tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, he will likely miss the 2025–26 season. Many executives thought Irving was about to receive a huge payoff, with a contract averaging $50–$60 million per year, before the injury.

Despite this, Irving decided to take a pay reduction so the Mavericks could afford to assemble a formidable team in preparation for his return from a season-ending injury.
