Ten Hag says that De Ligt’s “injustice” motivated Manchester United to beat Brentford.
In danger Erik ten Hag says that Manchester United’s win over Brentford was fueled by a feeling of “injustice.”
During the international break, there was a lot of attention on the manager of the Red Devils. In the last few minutes of the first half, Ethan Pinnock scored a goal from a corner kick, putting his team behind.
United had 10 players left at that point because Matthijs de Ligt had to leave the field again to have his cut head stitched up, and Ten Hag had been booked for being angry after the first goal.
That sense of unfairness helped spark a comeback in the second half. An amazing goal by Alejandro Garnacho and a great finish by Rasmus Hojlund secured a much-needed 2-1 win.
“Stressed? When asked about United being behind at halftime, Ten Hag said, “Pressure is always there.” “We need to win every game, so when we’re down 1-0, we need to figure out how to get back on track.”
“We thought something was unfair, and that fueled us for the second half. We sped up the game and scored two great goals.”
“I really liked the performance today, especially the second half.”
When asked why he was mad that players had to leave the game because they were cut, Ten Hag said, “But it didn’t change anything.” The blood was dry.
“That injury was already taken care of.” There was only dry blood, so none of us knew why he was sent away.
„I asked Matthijs, ‘What’s wrong?’ It’s just dry blood, and he says, “I don’t know why I have to come off.”
“There was a big moment because Brentford is great in corners. It’s disappointing to miss one of your best headers and let them score because of it.”
With Saturday’s win, they ended a five-game losing streak in all competitions. Now, all eyes are on Thursday’s Europa League trip to Fenerbahce, which is led by former United manager Jose Mourinho.
Ten Hag said, “It’s just a win” when asked if the Brentford win was a turning point.
As a result, we didn’t win enough games in the last block, but we did lose one (to Tottenham), which is why we were cut to 10 players.
After the game, everyone agreed that we shouldn’t have been cut down to 10. Now, all we need to do is score more goals, which we are doing by getting to the right places and bringing the ball up.
The places were right, but we weren’t clinical or determined enough. But this is what will help us win games.
Following a promising first half, Brentford’s Thomas Frank was unhappy with his team’s lackluster performance in the second half.
“In the first half, we thought we were the better team. In the second half, we thought the opposite,” the Bees manager joked. “It was clear that Man United was the better team in the second half.”
“Of course I was happy with the first half, but I was upset that we couldn’t do better in the second.”
“We were aware that they would attack right away, and we are too passive.”
“After two minutes, we give up a goal.” That makes me sad. Okay, that does happen in football sometimes. It’s the Premier League, and it looks like the tide just changed.
“When they won, their confidence went up.” We didn’t have the confidence or quality we did in the first half, and too many of my players didn’t play at their best in the second.
“If we want to beat Man United, we have to play at our best.” All in all, it was a fair result because they have a good team with great players. Many of their key players came through in the second half.
