tadejThe legendary Tom Boonen believes Tadej Pogacar can handle the “Hell of the North.”
It looks like Tadej Pogacar is determined to end his career as the best player of all time. One thing that is currently missing from his list of titles is all of the landmark titles. The Tour of Flanders, Il Lombardia, and Liege-Bastogne-Liege are all won, but Milano-Sanremo and Paris-Roubaix are still out of reach.
Pogacar hasn’t even tried the “Hell of the North” in Paris-Roubaix yet. Classics legend and four-time Paris-Roubaix winner Tom Boonen, on the other hand, says that the famous French cobblestones shouldn’t be too hard for the leader of UAE Team Emirates.
During the 2024 Velo d’Or ceremony, the 44-year-old Belgian declared, “I am 100% sure he can win it.” Pogacar won both the Velo d’Or and the Eddy Merckx Trophy for best Classics rider of the year on Friday night. His riding skills are very good, and he can do many things on his bike. Also, Paris-Roubaix isn’t too hard. It’s only about going fast on the cobblestones and watching out for the wind. “But who can win if he can’t?”
After hearing what Boonen had to say, Pogacar quickly spoke about the chance of winning Paris-Roubaix in the future. “Avoid the big rocks as much as you can.” “Just stay on the side of the road, and everything will be fine!” laughed the man who was making history. “It’s easy for him, haha.”
