Most notably, she served as a graduate assistant at Asbury University in Kentucky, where she helped lead the varsity volleyball team to a conference title. What sets von Haasl apart is her rootedness in the local volleyball community. She has coached several club teams in the Permian Basin area, which gives her a familiarity with many of Midland Christian’s returning players. Off the court, von Haasl leads an equally compelling life. She has trained a police service horse, reflecting a patience and discipline that’s rare even among veteran coaches. In July, she will participate in a mission trip to Belize, further highlighting her commitment to service beyond the court. She and her husband Stephen, married for 12 years, have two children, Ember and Justice, both of whom will attend Midland Christian.

With many returning players already familiar with von Haasl’s style, the team could hit the ground running in preseason.
