In her first words as a Dallas Wings player, Paige Bueckers talked about how much she loved the “DeadShot.” Bueckers had said, “He’s been my favorite player for a long time.” Irving has been an inspiration to millions of people because he is a living highlight reel and a great ball handler.
Because of his good basketball style and ties to Dallas, they made it to the NBA finals for the first time in 13 years in 2024.
That’s why Irving’s arrival at the American Airlines Center for their game against the Indiana Fever means a lot. The two shared a smile and a hug right before warmups, which was caught on camera.
When Clark wasn’t on the Fever team, Bueckers played with more drive than in any of her other games. She almost led a comeback. Irving cheered loudly when she beat the buzzer in the second quarter, holding the Bueckers jersey and cheering for the youngster.
Even though the game didn’t fall, the moment between Irving and Bueckers is now famous. It got so much attention that it’s now the poster for their return with the Fever.
The teams are using that time to market the rematch, as seen in a post on social media with the caption,
“Magical moments everywhere 🥹 Be sure to be a part of the magic of A Night in Dallas: The Sequel as we take on the Indiana Fever on 8/1 at American Airlines Center!”
