Standing fans at Rupp Arena cause trouble, and the cops have to step in.

Fans of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team have long been interested in how the crowds at Rupp Arena feel.

With a capacity of about 20,000, Rupp Arena should be one of the loudest and scariest places in college basketball. It is home to one of the best basketball teams in the country and has one of the best fan bases in the sport.

There have been reports over the last few years of people in the lower arena being told to sit down during the game when they stood up to cheer. But the report of this happening during the Kentucky-Louisville game has sparked a lot of interest on the internet.

An account called @SadKentucky shared a video on Twitter that seems to show a police officer telling a person standing in the lower arena to sit down.

The person from the past is a senior at UK called Caleb. He told KSR about what happened and said the cop told him he would go to jail if he didn’t sit down.

Another fan agreed with the story and said that the officer told them that the fan(s) who were standing would be arrested.

It seems like a harsh punishment to threaten to arrest someone for standing during a basketball game. That being said, it shows how big of a problem this is at Rupp Arena.

There are two points of view on this. On one hand, you could say that fans should be able to stand and cheer for their team. It’s part of having the home court edge, and other schools across the country do the same thing. People say that since they paid to watch the game and cheer for their team, they should be able to do so.

On the other hand, many fans at Rupp Arena can’t stand for long amounts of time during a game or some other reason. In some parts of the venue, someone standing in front of them can make it hard to see the game. Concerns like those are real.

No matter how you feel about the problem, most people would agree that threatening to arrest someone is going too far.

Do you agree with what’s being said about this controversy?
