Sporting Lisbon center back Ousmane Diomande should be signed by Manchester United, according to Ruben Amorim.
The Sun reports that new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants to sign Ousmane Diomande, a center back from Sporting Lisbon.
The 39-year-old has been named as Erik ten Hag’s official replacement. ten Hag was fired on Monday, and he will start working for the club on November 11.
At Man United, Amorim is likely to stick with the 3-4-3 system he likes best. Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez are all great fits for the scheme, but the Portuguese coach wants to bring Diomande from Sporting with him.
The 20-year-old has become one of the best defenders in the Primeira Liga, and Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, is said to be a huge fan.
Man United would love to have Diomande, but Sporting will only sell him if their £70 million release option is met. This could be a problem for the club.
During the summer, they spent a lot of money to get Yoro and De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich to improve their defense.
Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans could all be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season, so the team needs good backups at center back.
Manchester United will not want to sign anyone in the Premier League for £70 million.
It’s important for the Red Devils to follow the Profitability and Sustainability rules, and they can’t spend a lot of money in January or next summer.
The Sporting youngster has been connected with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich in the past.
He is likely to leave soon, but getting back together with Amorim might be hard if the price isn’lowered.
