Shortly after victory over Man United, Liverpool key player reveals he will be leaving the club soon
Mohamed Salah has declared that the current season will be his final in the Premier League and that he will depart Liverpool at the conclusion of the season.
Salah has only one year remaining on his current Liverpool contract, and he has confirmed that he has not yet had the opportunity to discuss his future with the club.
Salah responded to a question about his offseason in an interview with Sky Sports following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United: “I had a good summer. I had a long period to stay with myself and to think positively, because as you know, it is my final year at the club.”
“I merely wish to relish the experience and refrain from contemplating it.” However, I am confident that I am unrestricted in my ability to participate in football, and we will observe the potential outcomes in the upcoming year.
The Egyptian international was at his most dazzling during the Old Trafford match, contributing two assists and scoring his 15th Liverpool goal against United in the second half.
Salah’s early season tally in the Premier League now stands at an impressive three goals and three assists. However, he remains uncertain as to whether Liverpool will consider offering him a contract extension, despite his continued devastating performance.
He subsequently stated, “To be fair, I declared, ‘It could be my last time’ as I approached the game.” I will perform my final season and determine my future at the conclusion of the season, as the club has not yet contacted me.
Salah responded to David Jones, the anchor of Sky Sports, regarding his absence from Old Trafford by stating, “I am uncertain as to which club he is affiliated with; however, it may be my final game with Liverpool.”
The news will be devastating to Liverpool fans, who have developed an affection for the Egyptian virtuoso since his arrival in 2017.
Daniel Sturridge, another Reds supporters’ darling, echoed Salah’s sentiments, imploring him to ensure that Sunday would not be his final appearance for the Merseyside team at Old Trafford.
Salah responded with a lack of enthusiasm, “I am not responsible for the decision; however, I have not received any communication from the club. We shall see.”
Undoubtedly, Liverpool’s hierarchy is in a precarious position. Salah, who will be 33 years old at the commencement of the upcoming season, is the club’s greatest earner and is expected to request an additional substantial contract.
However, if the winger departs at the conclusion of the season, he will do so without contributing any funds to the club.
The news follows a year after the six-time European champions purportedly rejected a staggering nine-figure fee for Salah, which was the result of intense interest from Saudi Arabia.
