SHOCKING: £45m Man City player contemplates leaving the EPL as multiple clubs enter race to sign him
A player for Manchester City is contemplating a fresh start outside the Premier League following a dreadful 2023/24 campaign.
City supporters are eager to see what transpires this summer, following the club’s fourth consecutive Premier League championship.
Pep Guardiola may be aiming to conclude his managerial career with a flourish as he enters his final season in charge. There is considerable speculation that he may depart in the summer of 2025, when his contract expires.
This summer, new faces will be present. Additionally, there will be some outgoings.
After a calamitous loan stint with West Ham United, Kalvin Phillips is likely to be leaving; the £45 million acquisition by City could look forward to a new beginning away from the Premier League…
Phillips experienced a living torment during the 2023–24 season.
In January, after failing to earn consistent playing time at City, he transferred to West Ham in an attempt to improve his situation.
Under David Moyes, Phillips’ lack of confidence was evident, and he simply could not get moving. He committed errors that resulted in goals, was dismissed against Nottingham Forest, and concluded the season with an injury.
Since West Ham will not exercise their option to purchase the player, Phillips is likely to make his debut for a different club in the upcoming campaign.
Furthermore, it appears Phillips may be interested in starting a new chapter outside of the Premier League. Wednesday evening, The Sun reported that the 28-year-old is now contemplating a departure from the English Premier League.
AS Roma, RB Leipzig, and RB Salzburg are reportedly all interested in the star, who is considering a move abroad in search of a new beginning.
However, it is not specified whether these organizations could financially support Phillip’s exorbitant salaries. Nonetheless, it is not implausible that Phillips would reduce his salary in order to implement the proposed change.
It was reported earlier this week that Everton are investigating the possibility of signing Phillips on loan.
Given Phillips’s dismal performance over the past year, a transfer to an international club could be an absolute boon for him.
His tenure at West Ham could not have deteriorated further, and his every action has been subject to intense scrutiny. After he departed City, he was scrutinized because everyone was so intrigued to observe his progress.
This pressure must have been extremely difficult to manage, particularly considering how his confidence had been eroded.
Phillips would be well-advised to contemplate a transfer overseas for the upcoming season. It would provide him with an excellent opportunity to regain his footing, away from the English press.
It is highly unlikely that any of these clubs will extend permanent offers for Phillips on behalf of City. Therefore, their willingness to accept another loan proposal is uncertain.
